The one-month main harvest season of custard apples in Chi Lang district, the northern province of Lang Son begins in August and lasts to the end of September every year. Chi Lang custard apple is famous for its aroma, large size, sweetness thanks to the typical soil quality and climate. Lang Son province has worked to enhance the value of its custard apple through applying VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards in cultivation, granting of planting area codes, packaging and labeling with product traceability stamps, actively promoting product brands in domestic and foreign markets, aiming to boost custard apple export via official channels. Voluntary blood donation is a social activity of great humanity, a fine tradition of mutual love of the Vietnamese people. Thirty years after the blood donation movement was officially launched (January 24, 1994 - January 24, 2024), Vietnam has mobilised and received over 21.3 million units of blood, with the number of volunteer donors hitting 99%, according to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. The traditional wrestling festival of Van village (now Yen Vien village, Van Ha commune, Viet Yen district of the northern province of Bac Giang) is an unique and long-standing festival which features a rugby-style game played on a muddy field. Some 16 local men, 8 on each side, compete for a large ball representing the sun and try to carry the ball back to their own zone, therefore winning the sun. The festival taking place every four years is to show the farmers’ desire for favourable weather and bumper crops. It was included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritages in 2022. An annual ceremony commemorating sailors of the historic Hoang Sa (Paracel) flotilla takes place in the communal house of An Hai village, An Hai commune, Ly Son district, the central province of Quang Ngai. The traditional event, namely “Le khao le the linh Hoang Sa” (Feast and Commemoration Festival for Hoang Sa Soldiers), pays tribute to the men enlisted in the flotilla to patrol the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Spratly), tap natural resources, and defend national island sovereignty. After 7 years in operation, the first human milk bank in Vietnam at the Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children in the central city of Da Nang has yielded exciting results. The bank has called on 618 mothers to donate 12,744 litres of human milk, providing an irreplaceable source of nutrition for 35,570 at-risk babies. The hospital followed strict regulations for collecting breast milk, such as in the selection and screening of milk donors, milking hygiene and temperature-controlled milk processing, as well as pasteurisation, bacteriological examination and temperature-controlled transport. The human milk bank represents more than just a location where breast milk is donated and received to save the lives of vulnerable children; it also aims to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding and promote the same in society. The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu has set a target of becoming a clean and renewable energy hub of Vietnam by 2030, prioritizing investments in wind and solar power. Bac Lieu has many advantages for renewable energy development, such as having a coastline of nearly 60 km and a stable wind power with an average wind speed of 7m/s. In addition, the province has a sunny weather all year round, with an average sunshine duration reaching nearly 3,000 hours per year. Currently, the province is home to the sole offshore wind power plant which has provided more than 1 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid. Cat Ba archipelago in the northern city of Hai Phong, officially recognised by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve on December 19, 2004, has become a familiar destination for many tourists, especially those who are interested in ecotourism. The Cat Ba World Biosphere Reserve, located on Cat Ba Island, Cat Ba township, Cat Hai district, covers a total area of 26,240 ha with about 400 surrounding islets. Together with Ha Long Bay, it forms an interesting island-bay complex. The Cat Ba National Park is the nucleus of the biosphere reserve, with 9,800 ha of forest and 4,200 ha of sea. Cat Ba is one of the few areas that still maintain and preserve a diverse ecosystem, gathering all the characteristics of the tropical forests on the limestone islands, mangrove forests, coral reefs, seaweed beds, saltwater lakes in the middle of the mountain, and especially the intertwined system of caves, including those discovered not long ago.
