President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines has expressed her deepest sympathy over the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and affirmed that he is a revered leader both in Vietnam and across the world.

Throughout nearly 60 years of working, including more than 13 years in his capacity as the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always defined that the consistent goal of the Vietnamese revolutionary cause is national independence associated with socialism, thereby contributing to realising the aspiration of making Vietnam a powerful country.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong left a profound mark in terms of both theory and practice on the foreign affairs of Vietnam, which can be seen in important achievements in the field, according to Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the committee’s Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung.
