With 60 years of experience in nuclear energy development and in the construction and operation of approximately 60 nuclear power plants, Japan is well-positioned to contribute to Vietnam’s nuclear power project.

Russia is ready to implement nuclear power projects in Vietnam and develop electric waterway transport systems.

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.

The year 2025 holds special significance as it marks the final year of the 2021-2025 five-year socio-economic development plan. Following the directives of the Government and the Prime Minister, which aim to achieve a high GDP growth rate of 8% in 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has proactively reviewed and raised growth targets in the industrial and trade sectors, setting specific key goals.

European investments are expected to pick up in Vietnam following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s engagement with Czech and Polish enterprises as part of his trip to Europe to attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at a special policy dialogue on breakthroughs toward future: Vietnam’s vision on innovation and global role, within the framework of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on January 21 (local time).

In 2024, eight Vietnamese commodities achieved export values exceeding 10 billion USD, contributing to over 69% of the country's total export turnover.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a keynote speech at the seminar on the future of global trade and development in the smart era, in Davos on January 21 afternoon (local time).

A ceremony was held on January 19, 2025, at the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in the Presidential Palace to announce Decision No. 1712 by the Prime Minister dated December 31, 2024, to officially recognize three cars used by President Ho Chi Minh from 1954 to 1969 as national treasures.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on January 20 hosted an official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, who are on their official visit to the European country from January 18 to 20.

At the invitation of Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will attend the 55th annual WEF meeting in Davos, Switzerland, and conduct bilateral activities in Switzerland on January 21-22. The 55th WEF meeting, themed “Collaboration in the Intelligent Age," will run from January 20-24.

Vietnam is accelerating momentum in digital transformation. However, the cumbersome and multi-layered organisational structure remains a major bottleneck, hindering further progress.

As Vietnam is preparing a firm foundation to confidently enter a new era, State President Luong Cuong has called on Vietnamese people, both at home and abroad, to join hands in this great journey.

In 2024, Vietnamese investors launched 164 new projects and made 26 capital adjustments abroad. Vietnam’s total overseainvestment reached nearly 665 million USD, up 57.7% compared to 2023.  

At the invitation of Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pays an official visit to the Czech Republic from January 18 to 20, 2025. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic (February 2, 1950 – February 2, 2025). Building on the foundation of 75 years of diplomatic ties, the visit is expected to serve as a catalyst for elevating the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Party General Secretary To Lam on January 19 hosted a reception for 100 overseas Vietnamese representatives from more than 40 countries and territories, who are in Vietnam to attend the 2025 “Xuan Que huong” (Homeland Spring) organised by the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese.

The Lunar New Year 2025 tourism season has seen exceptional growth. Accommodation searches from international tourists for Vietnam have surged by 139%.
