Hanoi (VNA) - Experts and scholars in many countries around the world have made assessments affirming Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's role and contributions to the cause of national construction and development as well as efforts to build and rectify the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Professor Jayachandra Reddy, former Director of the Centre for Southeast Asian and Pacific Studies at India’s Sri Venkateswara University, said that under the leadership of General Secretary Trong, Vietnam has developed from a war-torn agricultural country into one of Asia's most dynamic economies.
The leadership of the General Secretary has helped Vietnam successfully overcome numerous challenges by implementing policies aimed at creating an economic framework for growth and poverty reduction, supporting start-ups, transforming rural economy, enhancing internationally competent human resources, providing efficient infrastructure and services, improving environment quality, building modern governance supported by information technology; and fostering trust at the global scale.
Vietnam has consistently prioritised maintaining social welfare, intensifying the fight against corruption, promoting administrative reform, and enhancing poverty reduction efforts, he said, adding that as a nation with a rich history, longstanding culture, diverse natural resources, a youthful and dynamic workforce, and a stable political and social environment, Vietnam continues to be a promising market and an ideal destination for foreign investors and businesses, especially from countries like the US, Japan and India.
Regarding the Party chief's contributions to developing Vietnam’s relations with other countries, Reddy said that with the "bamboo diplomacy" approach initiated by the General Secretary, Vietnam has maintained good bilateral relationships with other countries.

Besides his political and diplomatic responsibilities, the leader was also a key figure in ideological education within the Communist Party of Vietnam, in emphasising Marx-Lenin principles and encouraging practical approaches to governance, the professor added.
Japanese architect and history researcher Ueno Tomio said General Secretary Trong was a leader with pure morality, integrity, simple lifestyle, honesty, and exceptional leadership capabilities. In foreign affairs, under his leadership, the "bamboo diplomacy" approach and the foreign policy of independence have significantly enhanced Vietnam's position in the international arena. Tomio also acknowledged the leader's substantial contributions to deepening Japan-Vietnam relations.
Meanwhile, Professor Hirohide Kurihara, a Japanese expert on Vietnam, highlighted the Party leader's contributions to the building and rectification of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Kurihara emphasised the Party chief's vigorous efforts in combating corruption and strictly implementing disciplinary measures against Party organisations and members with violations. He viewed these actions as significant changes during the General Secretary's leadership tenures.
Stefano Bonilauri, Director of the Anteo Edizioni Publishing House which translated Party General Trong’s book “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam” into the Italian language, assessed that the leader plays a central role in modern Vietnamese history, and a crucial role in leading the country towards strong socio-economic development.
The General Secretary placed special emphasis on Party building and rectification, and on ensuring that the Party adheres steadfastly to its core principles. Under his leadership, Vietnam has made significant strides in the fight against corruption, asserting transparency and accountability of administrations at all levels; and prosecuting those who violate the State's laws and the Party's regulations. His dedication to the happiness of the Vietnamese people is clearly reflected by policies aimed at improving the quality of life and reducing poverty, Bonilauri stated.
He went on to say that that under the leadership of the General Secretary, Vietnam has strengthened and expanded its international relations. Particularly, the Party chief’s "bamboo diplomacy" approach has contributed to enhancing the country's international stature, and helped it become a respected and reliable partner on the global area.
Meanwhile, Giulio Chinappi, who is in charge of the Asian region at the publishing house, held that the Party leader has encouraged the promotion of Vietnamese culture across the world, enhanced national identity and stepped up solidarity between Vietnam and other nations. The General Secretary will inspire future generations of leaders in Vietnam and foreign countries, he added./.
