A lively lineup of cultural events and festivals has drawn large crowds to Dien Bien in the early days of 2026. This strong start points to robust growth ahead, giving fresh momentum for the province’s tourism to continue gaining ground.

The New York Times – the renowned American newspaper – has placed Vietnam at 34th position in its list of the top 52 global destinations for 2026. Vietnam is recognised as a rapidly evolving tourism hub, offering increasingly diverse and high-quality experiences for travelers.

As evening descends on the Truong Son range, the community cultural house in hamlet 6, Lao Bao commune, Quang Tri province, comes alive with the familiar sounds of traditional instruments Bru–Van Kieu folk songs. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 16 chaired an online conference with central localities to review the “Quang Trung Campaign,” a lightning-fast effort to rebuild and repair homes damaged by storms and floods in central Vietnam, declaring that the campaign had achieved a “resounding victory.” By December 30, 2025, all 34,759 damaged houses had been fully repaired, while by January 15, 2026, the construction of all 1,597 new houses had been basically completed—more than 45 days ahead of the initial schedule. The Dao Quan Chet are a small subgroup of Vietnam’s Dao ethnic community, with a long history of settlement in the northern mountains. Ha Son village in Ngoc Lac commune, home to the largest Dao Quan Chet community in Thanh Hoa province with 263 households and a population of 1,086, is entering the festive atmosphere of their traditional Tet as residents clean their homes, arrange ancestral altars and prepare offerings following the harvest season.
