It marked the decisive end of a heroic 30-year struggle for independence, freedom, and national unity; brought an end to more than a century of domination by both old and new colonial powers; and opened a new era— the era of national independence and socialism.
The national-level ceremony and parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025), organised by the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and Ho Chi Minh City, began at 6:30am on 30 April along Le Duan Boulevard and several central streets in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
