Nghe An: “Dual support” policy expands social security coverage for self-employed workers
Without stable employment and ineligible for compulsory social insurance, many self-employed workers in Nghe An are proactively enrolling in voluntary social insurance to secure an income in their old age. In addition to the State’s subsidy, the province provides extra support equivalent to 30% of contributions for people from poor households, 25% for those from near-poor households and 5% for other eligible groups. Combined support from the State and the provincial budget is helping reduce contribution costs and expand workers’ access to social security. Photo: Bich Hue – VNA
