Quang Ngai residents receive State President's Bravery Order
Two residents of Ly Son special zone in the central province of Quang Ngai received the State President's Bravery Order for their courageous rescue efforts during Typhoon Kalmaegi at a ceremony on December 15.

Quang Ngai (VNA) - Two residents of Ly Son special zone in the central province of Quang Ngai received the State President's Bravery Order for their courageous rescue efforts during Typhoon Kalmaegi at a ceremony on December 15.

At the ceremony, the Quang Ngai Department of Home Affairs announced the State President's Decision No. 2360/QĐ-CTN dated December 9, 2025, awarding the Bravery Order to Phan Duy Quang from Tay An Vinh village and Le Van Sanh from Tay An Hai village.

Decisions by the Chairperson of the provincial People’s Committee were also announced to award certificates of merit to 12 collectives and two individuals for their excellent performance in search and rescue operations during the storm.

The honoured collectives included nine groups of sailors and crew members from rescue vessels of Quang Ngai, Quang Tri and Quang Ninh provinces, along with the Quang Ngai Port Management Board, Vinamarine Quang Ngai and Division 372 of the People's Air Defence–Air Force.

The two individuals receiving commendations were Le Thanh Hung, first mate of the An Vinh Express vessel, and Nguyen Thai Son, deputy head of the Ly Son Border Guard Post.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Quang Ngai People’s Committees Nguyen Hoang Giang praised the two citizens who displayed exceptional courage in rescuing people in life-threatening circumstances. He noted that such noble and courageous acts have a strong ripple effect in the community, helping to nurture positive humanitarian values in society.

He expressed his hope that the honoured collectives and individuals, along with the wider public, will continue to uphold their spirit of bravery and dedication, make greater contributions to disaster response and other tasks, and serve as role models, thereby spreading meaningful acts among the community and contributing to safeguarding national security and public safety./.
