Politburo member and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam has been elected as General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), securing 100% of the approval votes.

The 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on August 3 elected Politburo member and State President To Lam as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee with 100% of approval votes, demonstrating a high level of solidarity and unity in the Political Bureau and the Party Central Committee - the Party’s highest leadership agency between the two national congresses.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam chaired a press conference in Hanoi on August 3 to announce the outcomes of the 13th Party Central Committee’s meeting held earlier the same day.

The 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam convened a meeting in Hanoi on August 3 morning to nominate the candidate and elect the General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee. Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of the Political Bureau, presided over the meeting.
