Vietnam, Azerbaijan strengthen scientific cooperation
Both sides agreed to soon develop and sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focusing on expert exchanges, joint research programmes, co-organising international conferences, and publishing scientific works in areas of mutual interest. Hanoi (VNA) - A delegation from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) visited Azerbaijan from November 2–5 at the invitation of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) to mark the 80th anniversary of ANAS.

During a meeting on November 2 with ANAS President Isa Habibbayli, VASS Vice President Ta Minh Tuan said the visit laid the groundwork for stronger cooperation between the two academies, especially following the recent upgrade of Vietnam–Azerbaijan relations to a Strategic Partnership in May 2025.

Both sides agreed to soon develop and sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focusing on expert exchanges, joint research programmes, co-organising international conferences, and publishing scientific works in areas of mutual interest. These initiatives aim to enhance academic interaction, share knowledge and research experience, and open new prospects for future collaboration.

The VASS delegation also attended ANAS’s 80th-anniversary celebrations on November 3–4 in Baku. Speaking on behalf of VASS, Tuan congratulated ANAS, highlighting its role as a symbol of knowledge and innovation, bringing together generations of outstanding scientists who have shaped Azerbaijan’s scientific and cultural identity and enhanced the country’s international standing.

He expressed confidence that, in the context of strengthened strategic partnership, cooperation between the two academies will become increasingly substantive and effective, promoting academic exchange and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

During the visit, the delegation also laid flowers at the Azerbaijan Martyrs’ Memorial, planted commemorative trees, and met with representatives from research institutions and academies from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and other countries./.
