Vietnam, US eye stronger economic, trade ties

Hanoi (VNA) - Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a reception for Kerry Person, Vice President of Data Centre Planning at Amazon Web Services (AWS) - part of US-based e-commerce giant Amazon, on March 4 in Hanoi.

During the meeting, Quang applauded Amazon’s active cooperation with Vietnamese ministries and agencies in recent years, as well as its long-term commitment and investment strategy in Vietnam.

He highlighted Vietnam’s strong growth momentum, substantial development potential, high-quality research and development engineers, and favourable investment climate, which align with the demands of foreign enterprises, including those from the US, for investment and business expansion.

The minister affirmed that, based on the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Ministry of Public Security will continue facilitating stable and lawful operations of businesses, including Amazon, in accordance with Vietnamese and international regulations.

For his part, Person expressed appreciation for the ministry’s support and lauded Vietnam’s vision in advancing digital transformation, innovation and secure and sustainable digital infrastructure.

He affirmed Amazon’s commitment to expanding investment and fostering high-quality human resource development in Vietnam.He also voiced hope for stronger substantive cooperation with units under the Ministry of Public Security, as well as Vietnamese partners, expressing confidence that joint efforts would further bolster Vietnam–US economic and trade relations, bringing benefits for both sides./.
