Hanoi (VNA) – More than 14,660 tonnes of rice from the national reserve were allocated to 13 provinces and centrally-run cities to support people during the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival and the between-crop period in 2026.

The localities include Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Ha Tinh, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Vinh Long, An Giang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Dak Lak, Quang Ngai and Da Nang.

The allocation, delivery and receipt of rice were carried out by regional reserve departments in close coordination with provincial and municipal People’s Committees, ensuring compliance with regulations, proper beneficiaries and intended purposes, and adherence to procedures stipulated in Circular No. 60/2025/TT-BTC dated June 27, 2025 of the Ministry of Finance.

Regarding implementation results, for the aid during the Lunar New Year 2026, 100% of the planned allocation - 8,679 tonnes of rice - has been completed for 11 localities. The remaining 389 tonnes for An Giang and Lai Chau provinces were expected to be fully delivered on February 13 (the 26th day of the last lunar month).

For the aid during the between-crop period, 1,522 tonnes have been provided for four localities, namely Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Ha Tinh and Da Nang. The remaining 4,071 tonnes for Lang Son, Lai Chau and Dien Bien provinces are scheduled for allocation after Tet.

According to the Department of State Reserves, despite tight timelines, wide geographical coverage and numerous distribution points, thanks to close direction from the Ministry of Finance and local authorities, as well as strong coordination among departments, sectors and regional reserve units, rice delivery and receipt were completed ahead of schedule in several localities, including Lam Dong, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Vinh Long and Quang Ngai, ensuring sufficient quantity and quality.

Localities promptly distributed the rice to beneficiaries, helping people enjoy a warm and secure Lunar New Year of the Horse and ensuring social welfare during the between-crop period./.
