The Congress is an occasion to assess the country’s development situation during each term, review leadership outcomes, and draw valuable lessons of both theoretical and practical significance. It is also where the Party gives full play to collective intellect, the spirit of solidarity, renewal, and creativity in order to set out policies and orientations for national development in the subsequent period.

The congress unanimously approved the preparatory session’s programme, the working regulations of the congress, the congress work programme, and the election regulations for the 14th National Party Congress.

Pham Tat Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, and standing deputy head of the Central Steering Committee in charge of grasping the public situation and social opinion regarding party congresses at all levels, as well as the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, said that those documents not only review the five-year development journey and define the key directions, objectives, tasks, and solutions for the upcoming term, but also shape strategic thinking, vision, and development orientations for the country toward the middle of the 21st century.

Andrew Goledzinowski, former Australian Ambassador to Vietnam from 2022 to 2024, said that Vietnam is at a historic juncture, noting that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is an event of particularly important significance.

Dr Ho Quoc Tuan, Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol in the UK pointed to Vietnam's strong economic performance during the 2020–2025 period, noting that Vietnam not only sustained robust growth but also preserved key growth engines, particularly exports, while steadily enhancing the economy’s internal resilience during an interview with the Vietnam News Agency.

The establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930 marked an inevitable turning point in the nation’s history. It was a brilliant milestone in the long journey of constructing, safeguarding, and developing the country.

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development," the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is taking place at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi from January 19-25, 2026, with the participation of 1,586 delegates representing over 5.6 million Party members nationwide.

PM Chinh instructed localities to complete house handovers no later than January 18, 2026, while continuing to address environmental issues, restore essential infrastructure, create jobs and livelihoods, and ensure transparent, timely support for affected households, especially during the Lunar New Year.

The three books published by the VNA Publishing House contribute to promoting Vietnam’s image at home and abroad. They also serve as valuable external information products, helping nurture confidence, aspiration and determination to build and safeguard a socialist Vietnam as it advances firmly into a new era of prosperity, strength, civilisation and happiness.

A notable new feature in the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress is that environmental protection is no longer treated as an auxiliary task, but increasingly regarded as a foundation for the country’s sustainable development in the coming period.

The former diplomat once said when leaving Hanoi in 2019 that: “Vietnam is not only a place where I worked, it became a part of my diplomatic life”. Today, in his message to the 14th National Party Congress, his enduring affection for Vietnam remains steadfast, a quiet thread connecting friends across half the globe in shared aspirations for peace, independence, and social justice.

Humanitarian work has emerged as an important complementary pillar, providing timely support to vulnerable groups while reinforcing ties between the Party, the State and the people.

R.Arun Kumar, Head of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M)’s committee for external affairs, highlighted the significance of the 14th National Part Congress of Vietnam and the country’s major development orientations in the new period.

Attention to the upcoming congress and to the Party’s personnel work must go hand in hand with the responsibility to safeguard unity within the Party. The most basic and practical expression of that responsibility is to refrain from spreading malicious content or unverified rumors on social media.

Sustaining broad-based consultations and listening to views from all walks of life, particularly those directly creating value, will be key to Vietnam’s even greater success, said an official of Germany’s Left Party.

The attainments gained over 40 years of Doi moi come as the essence of the perseverance in independence, self-reliance, as well as the solidarity and creativity of the entire nation, said former Deputy Foreign Minister and former Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Thach Du.

In the early years of renewal, Vietnam had fewer than 400 urban areas. Today, the figure has risen to more than 902 of various categories. The classification of cities has brought Vietnam’s urban system closer to international practice, while clearly defining the national and regional roles of major cities.

The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is not only an occasion to review the achievements already made, but also lay the foundation for the country’s strategic transformation in the new period.

PM Chinh noted that in recent years, education in ethnic minority, mountainous and border areas has received special attention and priority investment from the Party, the State and Party General Secretary To Lam.

Chairing a working session with the Party Central Committee Office and relevant agencies on January 7 to review preparations for the Congress, Politburo member and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu commended agencies and units for their strong sense of responsibility and efforts in fulfilling assigned tasks in line with the plan.
