Traditional performing arts blend into Hanoi’s old quarter
Every Saturday evening, traditional music and songs resonate in front of the ancient house at 64 Ma May Street (Hoan Kiem ward, Hanoi) as part of a weekly traditional performing arts show. Excerpts of tuồng (classical drama), chèo (traditional opera), xẩm (folk singing by blind buskers), and hát văn (spiritual singing) captivate both locals and visitors. Amid the vibrant pace of the pedestrian streets, these folk melodies continue to echo, showcasing the enduring vitality of Vietnamese culture in the heart of the capital. Photo: Khanh Hoa – VNA
