Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh, with its lush greenery, diverse flora and fauna, and spectacular scenery, is an excellent choice for a weekend getaway from Hanoi. Established in 1962, the 22,400ha park was the very first national park of Vietnam and spans three provinces: Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Hoa Binh. From mid-April to May is the famous butterfly season in the park. During this time, hundreds of different butterfly species, estimated at around 400, emerge from their slumber and take flight, filling the air with a vibrant display of colour. Their colourful wings create a magical scene at Cuc Phuong park, attracting a large number of locals and visitors. VNA Photo: Hải Yến
