Soldiers and militia brave rain to help Quang Ngai farmers “save” rice
Prolonged heavy rains in recent days have submerged and flattened hundreds of hectares of Summer-Autumn rice fields in Quang Ngai Province. Rice has even begun to sprout in some fields, forcing farmers in many localities to leave their crops in the fields and face total losses after a growing season. In areas where the rice can still be salvaged, hundreds of officers, soldiers, militia members and local residents have spent days wading through flooded fields to harvest the rice.
