To help residents of Mong Nam Village, Mong Nam Commune,
Xiengkhor District, Houaphanh Province, Laos, improve their livelihoods and
develop the local economy, officers and soldiers of the Chieng Tuong Border
Guard Station under the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command have mobilised
social resources to donate 6,200 coffee seedlings and 500 kilograms of
fertiliser. The pilot project has been implemented on about three hectares of
land cultivated by four households. Border guards have also provided hands-on
guidance on planting, cultivation and pest control techniques, helping local
people adopt farming practices suited to local climate and soil conditions.
