Credit growth nears 18% in 2025: central bank

At a press conference on banking sector performance in 2025 and tasks for 2026, held in Hanoi on December 29, SBV Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha said that as of December 24, 2025, total outstanding credit to the economy exceeded 18.4 quadrillion VND (about 670 billion USD), up 17.87% compared to the end of 2024.

Vietnam’s trade turnover tops 900 billion USD for first time

Vietnam's total trade in 2025 reached about 920 billion USD, up 16.9% year on year. Of the total, exports were valued at 470.59 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 15.9%, while imports amounted to 449.41 billion USD, up 18%, resulting in a trade surplus of around 21.2 billion USD.

Vietnam targets 5,000km of expressway by 2030

According to the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam brought just 89km of expressways into operation between 2001 and 2010, followed by 1,163km in the 2011–20 period. By contrast, the length of expressways invested in since 2021 alone is equivalent to the combined total of the previous decade.
