Tay Ninh proactively responding to floods to protect agricultural production in Dong Thap Muoi
Floodwaters from upstream are rising by an average of 2-3 cm per day and night in the Dong Thap Muoi region of Tay Ninh Province. Combined with rainfall and high tides, the rising water is increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas amid the peak harvest season for the Summer-Autumn rice crop. In Vinh Thanh Commune, rapidly rising floodwaters inundated 10 hectares of glutinous rice just days before harvest. More than 100 officers and soldiers from the armed forces were mobilized to work alongside local residents to urgently harvest the crop and minimize losses. Photo by courtesy/VNA
