Coconut palms are a familiar sight across the Mekong Delta. But in the middle of the Tien River, Con En Ecotourism Area in Cu Lao Gieng commune, An Giang province, is home to an unusual garden where coconut palms grow two, three or even dozens of heads, creating striking shapes that attract visitors.

At the beginning of the new school year, the opening drumbeat sounded for the first time at People’s Public Security Cultural School No. 4 in Tay Ninh, marking the start of a new journey for 95 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Amid prolonged heavy rains, rising river and stream levels, and the risk of flash floods and landslides in many border areas, the Quang Tri Border Guard Command has implemented response measures under the “four on-the-spot” motto, maintaining personnel and vehicles on 24-hour standby. Local teams have stepped up inspections of areas at risk of landslides, flooding and isolation, while coordinating with local authorities to disseminate information and encourage residents to take preventive measures and be ready for evacuation when necessary.
