Since the 1960s, people from Thai Binh province have moved to reclaim land in Binh Thuan commune (formed from the former Phong Lai and Chieng Pha communes) in Son La province, introducing tea cultivation to develop the local economy. Currently, the commune has nearly 1,000 hectares of tea, mainly Kim Tuyen and Shan Tuyet varieties, grown in concentrated areas in the hamlets of Kien Xuong, Noong Lao, Quynh Chau, Quynh Tien Hung and Muong Chien. Tea cultivation has created stable jobs for many local workers, contributing to poverty reduction and socio-economic development. Vast green tea hills stretching and winding across the slopes form a peaceful, romantic and picturesque landscape. Photo: Quang Quyet – VNA
