After four decades of implementing the Doi moi (Renewal) process from 1986 to 2026, Vietnam has recorded proud and far-reaching achievements that have laid an important foundation for its aspiration to become a high-income developed country by 2045.

The Congress is an occasion to assess the country’s development situation during each term, review leadership outcomes, and draw valuable lessons of both theoretical and practical significance. It is also where the Party gives full play to collective intellect, the spirit of solidarity, renewal, and creativity in order to set out policies and orientations for national development in the subsequent period.

Pham Tat Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, and standing deputy head of the Central Steering Committee in charge of grasping the public situation and social opinion regarding party congresses at all levels, as well as the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress, said that those documents not only review the five-year development journey and define the key directions, objectives, tasks, and solutions for the upcoming term, but also shape strategic thinking, vision, and development orientations for the country toward the middle of the 21st century.

The establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930 marked an inevitable turning point in the nation’s history. It was a brilliant milestone in the long journey of constructing, safeguarding, and developing the country.

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development," the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is taking place at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi from January 19-25, 2026, with the participation of 1,586 delegates representing over 5.6 million Party members nationwide.

A notable new feature in the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress is that environmental protection is no longer treated as an auxiliary task, but increasingly regarded as a foundation for the country’s sustainable development in the coming period.

A growth path for 2026 has been outlined in line with the National Assembly’s resolution setting a target of more than 10% expansion. Under this scenario, gross domestic product (GDP) would need to rise 9.1% in the first quarter and 10.2% in the second.

Attention to the upcoming congress and to the Party’s personnel work must go hand in hand with the responsibility to safeguard unity within the Party. The most basic and practical expression of that responsibility is to refrain from spreading malicious content or unverified rumors on social media.

Resolution 79 is not only about SOEs. At a deeper level, it is about how Vietnam reorganises its development drivers in a world that is changing at breakneck speed.

As Vietnam stands on the threshold of a promising new development phase brimming with opportunities and high expectations, staying alert to fake news, rumours, and baseless accusations is not merely a voice of rationality but a civic duty towards the nation’s future.

From the perspective of international law and Vietnamese law, it is necessary to clearly recognise that the acts committed by individuals such as Le Trung Khoa and Nguyen Van Dai do not fall within the scope protected by freedom of expression or press freedom.

Under the Party’s glorious flag, the VPA has always been an absolutely loyal and trusted political force, worthy of the trust and love of the Party, the State and the people.

Over 12 days and nights, from December 18 to 30, 1972, the US Air Force launched an unprecedented bombing campaign in Indochina, in an attempt to “throw North Vietnam back to the stone age”. With courage, determination, ingenuity and close coordination, the armed forces and people of the North shot down 81 aircraft, including 34 B-52 bombers. The decisive victory over Hanoi shattered the peak of US military escalation and led to the signing of the Paris Agreement, ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam and Indochina.

From the task of dissemination, detection, and supervision to the rebuttal of false allegations, the information work of the press in general, and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in particular, has been implemented in conjunction with its role as the official source of information for the Party and the State. This contributes to strengthening social trust and promoting the building of a clean and strong Party and political system.
