The event “Da Nang – Copenhagen: A green journey along the Han river”, which opened at APEC Park on June 20, marks the 55th anniversary of Vietnam–Denmark diplomatic relations (1971–2026) while promoting exchanges and collaboration on sustainable urban development.

The resolution encourages a wide range of cultural, artistic and tourism activities, including performances, exhibitions, film screenings, presentations of traditional and intangible cultural heritage, and other programmes held in public spaces, pedestrian streets, heritage sites, theatres, cinemas and cultural venues.

At the heart of the model is the principle that all policies must be designed for the people, rooted in the people’s aspirations and dedicated to serving their interests. Citizens will play an active role in governance through access to information, participation in decision-making, oversight of public affairs and equitable access to development outcomes. In this context, democracy and happiness of the people are not only development goals but also the most accurate benchmarks for evaluating the effectiveness of local governance and the capacity of grassroots authorities to serve their communities.

Chairing a working session on June 10 with the Government Party Committee and relevant agencies reviewing the implementation of Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW, issued by the 11th Party Central Committee, on proactively responding to climate change, strengthening natural resource management and environmental protection, the top leader emphasised that environmental protection and climate adaptation must be integrated into the broader goals of rapid and sustainable development, maintaining high economic growth over the long term, and building a modern economy driven by science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Diplomats of Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, and Timor-Leste have all described the forum as a timely and strategic initiative that provides a platform for forward-looking dialogue on the region’s future.

The new development model must place people at the centre as the objective, driving force and key actor of development. All development policies should aim to improve people’s material and spiritual well-being, creative capacity, dignity, opportunities for advancement and equitable access to development benefits, said top leader To Lam.

In Vietnam, forests serve as a foundation for livelihoods, water resources, public health, and environmental stability, particularly for ethnic minority communities living in and near forest areas. They also act as a natural buffer against disasters, helping reduce risks linked to climate change.

A common feature in many successful economies is a fundamental shift in the perception of private enterprises. In countries such as Singapore, Germany, Republic of Korea (RoK) and China, private firms are viewed not mainly as entities requiring strict control but as development partners and key forces generating growth, jobs and innovation.
